Dodoma guide
The capital, without the guesswork.
Everything below is what our front desk actually tells guests — distances from the inn, practical detail, no tourist-board padding.

01
Parliament of Tanzania
±4 km · 10 min by car
The Bunge is why half our guests are in town. Sessions run February–November in stints; if you're attending, carry ID, allow time for security, and dress formally. Ask reception the night before and we'll have a taxi waiting after breakfast.

02
Nyerere Square
±3 km · 8 min by car
The ceremonial heart of the capital, named for the founding president. Come for national holidays and the flag ceremonies, stay for the best people-watching in Dodoma. The surrounding streets hold the city's banks and ministries.
-
03
Dodoma wine country
±15–30 km · half-day trip
Central Tanzania's high plateau makes real wine — dry reds and crisp whites that surprise first-timers. Several cellar doors take visitors with a day's notice. We can arrange a driver; taste, don't drive.
-
04
Lion Rock (Mlimwa)
±6 km · 15 min by car
The granite outcrop that watches over the city. The scramble to the top takes about an hour and the golden-hour view across the capital is worth every step. Go early morning or late afternoon; carry water.
-
05
Jamhuri Stadium
±3 km · 8 min by car
Match days turn the whole neighborhood into a carnival. If the national team or a Premier League side is playing while you're in town, go — tickets are cheap and the atmosphere is unbeatable.

Getting around
Airport 2.1 km · SGR station ±5 km
The airport is ten minutes away; the new SGR railway connects Dodoma to Dar es Salaam in a comfortable afternoon. In town, bajaji (tuk-tuks) are everywhere and cheap — agree the fare before you get in, or ask reception to call a trusted driver.
Base yourself well.
Ten minutes from everything in this guide, and quiet when you get back.
